Found in Translation :  an unforgettable mission trip where faith, obedience, and forgiveness intersect.

Series: Altered Hearts
Author: Roger Bruner, Kristi Rae Bruner

When Kim Hartlinger—eighteen and spoiled—arrives on a mission trip to Mexico and discovers, to her chagrin, that she’ll be doing construction in a remote village without plumbing and electricity, rather than evangelism in a medium-sized town with a fast food joint . . she has only two choices. “Rough it” (which isn’t exactly what Kim had in mind when she signed up for this trip) or turn around and head home.

Will Kim be able to touch the villagers’ hearts with the Gospel? Or will her time in Mexico be up before she gets the chance?

Review:
Roger and Kristi Rae Bruner's characters capture your heart and leave you rooting for them. Teens will be entertained and challenged by this page-turning read, which shows what can happen when we surrender our will to God's.

Roger and Kristi Rae Bruner's debut novel, Found in Translation, is a charming and sincere commentary on racial sensitivity and interdependence. When I started writing years ago, I wanted to create real characters who, though imperfect, could navigate the minefields of race and prejudice with God's grace. Looks like the Bruners have the same goal. Way to go, Roger and Kristi Rae.

I think the author hits the heart of the matter and describes how one has to be humbled in order to truly serve.

Hartlinger’s learning and giving curve takes a direct turn toward Heaven in this, the first installment in the new “Altered Heart” young adult novel series.

Along with this book offering hours of positive entertainment, Found in Translation is a wonderful tool to use if you need to send a subtle message to your favorite spoiled teenager.

WOW! I loved this book. While it is probably geared more for the YA crowd, I enjoyed every bit of it. This was a very easy read but definitely keeps you interested. While heart wrenching and real, it is also entertaining and some moments I could not help but laugh out loud. I definitely recommend this for anyone considered missionary work or just looking for a great read.

I really enjoyed this book, and I was pleased to see character development exhibited through Kim as she transitioned from selfish and sassy to a more polished and patient young woman. While she's definitely far from perfect, she is a beautiful illustration of the notion that God can use anyone, no matter how great or small, as an intricate piece of his glorious plan for life. It only takes one who is open and humble enough to recognize the call when it comes.

I would recommend FOUND IN TRANSLATION to anyone looking for a motivational, inspirational read... and especially to teenage girls or young women experiencing feelings of spiritual smallness or inadequacy as they forge ahead to find their places in this vast world. And, I'm especially excited to learn that this is the first book in a series. I will definitely pick up the remainder of these books, without hesitation, whenever they are finally released.

Bruner offers an insightful and colorful read. Each character is well fleshed out and developed. The scene, plot and description create an amazing and lovely world for readers to dive into and enjoy.

This is a great young adult story that will bring growth, perspective and life application to the importance of faith, obedience and forgiveness.
