Advent of a Mystery
Series: Hometown Mysteries
Author: Marilyn Leach
For lovers of classic Agatha Christie mysteries and Jan Karon village characters, this English set mystery is sure to please. Berdie Elliott, the wife of the new parish priest, thought she left her old life as an investigative reporter behind her, but she soon discovers a village full of secrets when a man dies at a Christmas celebration. Could a clue to his demise be hidden in an advent wreath? Can Berdie curb her natural instincts to get involved in both a mystery and a romance, or will she let the local law handle things?
This is a really engaging "cozy" mystery, with likable and interesting characters. I hope we'll be seeing more of Berdie and her friends and neighbors.
Even with a number of clues, author Marilyn Leach will keep you guessing until the very end.

Marilyn Leach is a new author to me. So glad I had the opportunity to read her latest book "Advent of a Mystery." This is a lively read with a well thought out plot. The characters are likeable and realistic in their actions. The setting was so clearly discribed that I felt I had been in the small English village myself.
