Rest in Peace
Series: Hometown Mysteries
Author: Frances Devine
Ride along on a hair-raising adventure with Victoria Storm and her cohorts as they comb Cedar Chapel for clues to a murder. When the local pet store owner is found dead, the coroner deems it due to a fall. But Victoria, her fiancé Benjamin, and the residents of Cedar Chapel Lodge, a senior boardinghouse, think it’s murder. As they begin to uncover evidence, things go from bad to worse and their friend Miss Aggie disappears, leaving her blood-stained clothing behind. Will Victoria catch the killer or be the next victim?
As the reader is taken on a hair raising journey of murder and mayhem, lost treasure maps, hidden caves and tunnels, the disappearance of Miss Aggie, and someone who is out to make Victoria the next victim, they come to a surprise at the ending. Another great Home Town Mystery by Barbour Publishing. Recommended for everyone.
...it's a good little read. I liked it for its entertainment value and characters, not to mention the historical setting
Over all, I really enjoyed this book and plan to read other titles by Frances Devine. I highly recommend this book to those who like a fun plot and good characters, while skipping the graphic images of other mysteries. You will really enjoy meeting Victoria and her friends and add Frances Devine to your list of authors to read.
Rest in Peace by Frances Devine is a cozy Christian Hometown Mystery. It was a very quick pleasant read. I liked the parrot Whatzit and the way the senior citizens from the rest home wanted to get involved every step of the way in the investigation. I recommend this to fans of other cozy mysteries. You won't be disappointed.
"Rest in Peace" is a light and fun mystery, which very much reminded me of the Agatha Christie novels. Ms. Devine's writing did not disappoint in that the story was completely formed and kept my attention from beginning to end, which is to say there were no boring sections that would make me put the book down and not pick it up again. Throughout the book I kept changing my mind as to who I thought the culprit might be.
This book would get a rating of FOUR out of FIVE stars from me and I highly recommend it to those of you who enjoy light mystery reading.
Devine keeps readers on their toes as Victoria and the zany cast of elderly boarders set out to solve another crime. The story strikes a serious note, adding depth to the plot, when clues begin to point to a terrible time in history.
