If you were standing at the gate of Heaven and God asked you: “Why should I let you in?” What would you tell him?
You: Well, I think I lived a pretty good life.
God: But what about all the wrong things you did?
You: Oh, those. Well, I tried my best, didn’t I?
God: Oh really?
God: What about the time…
You: I know! I know! Don’t remind me.
You: Well, maybe I didn’t always try my best, but I was always sincere!
God: SINCERE? What is sincerity worth?
God: You can be sincerely wrong, can’t you?
You: Well, yes.
God: So sincerity really isn’t the issue. Let’s get back to the question at hand.
God: Why should I let you in?
You: Well, I never stole anything and I tried not to lie….
You: Doesn’t that all count for something?
God: I’m sorry, but that’s not good enough
You: Wait a minute! Save me! What must I do to be saved?
What must I do to be … what’s this? A Bible? Wow! Look at this!
What must I do to be saved…Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. (Acts 16:30, 31)
You see, God really loves you and really wants to have a relationship with you.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
But our problem is…sin seperates us from God’s love.
But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2.)
Jesus Christ came to free us from sin, and to bring us into a right relationship with God the father by giving up his life on the cross for our sins and rising again.
For Christ died for sins one for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. (1 Peter 3:18)
