What to Do to Go to Hell
NOTHING! There’s absolutely nothing we need to do to go to Hell. “All have sinned….there is none that doeth good….he that believeth not [in God’s Son] is condemned already” (Romans 3:23,12; John 3:18).
But there is something we must do to go to Heaven. The Bible says, “He that believeth on the Son [Jesus Christ] hath everlasting life” (John 3:36).
Hell is no joke. Jesus Himself warns that Hell is “a furnace of fire” where there will be “wailing and gnashing of teeth.” It’s obviously a real place where one will be just as aware of his surroundings as he was on earth (Matthew 13:42).
The good news is that God doesn’t want anyone to spend eternity separated from Him in Hell. That’s why He sent His Son to suffer the punishment for our sins: God “spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up [on the cross] for us all….not willing that any should perish” (Romans 8:32; 2 Peter 3:9).
You can be sure of a place in Heaven someday if you put your faith in God. You can pray something like this:
Dear God, I know I have sinned and deserve Your punishment. But I thank You for sending Your Son to take my place, then raising Him to life again. I turn from my unbelief and put my trust entirely in Jesus for the forgiveness of my sins and to enable me to live a life that pleases You. Thank You for making it possible for me to know You now and live with You forever in Heaven!
